Feeling frazzled selling your home? You are not alone. Numerous home owners find the whole process of selling their home stressful. Beat the stress with the following tips:
Hire a Real Estate Professional. When you work with a registered real estate broker or salesperson you benefit from their education, knowledge and experience. Allow your real estate professional to give you guidance on preparing your home for sale, provide you with a detailed comparative market analysis, and price and market your home properly.
Declutter. De-cluttering helps everyone live “easier” with less around them. It can also reduce the added stress of keeping your home clean for showings - the less clutter the less you need to maintain, less you need to pack resulting in reduced moving costs.
Hire a Cleaning Service. If you do not already have a weekly cleaning service, hire a temporary one. Having an unclean home obstructs a buyer’s view … remember, buyers make judgment in the 1st few minutes of being in a home. You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.
Consider Doggie Day Care. Selling your home when you have pets can prove to be extremely difficult no matter what time of year. If you have pets, especially dogs, invest in putting them in doggie daycare during the day. This small investment can make the biggest return in reducing stress knowing that they are being taken care and not hindering the sales process.
Get Physical. Oxygenate your muscles and release tension. Take a 10-15 minute break and go for a walk around your neighbourhood. Grab a green tea at your local cafe – green tea contains an antioxidant that can help lower stress hormones. Try some simple breathing exercises – breathing deeply works wonders.
Visualize Change. Any stress you may have during the sales process of your home is temporary. Focus on the positive and your new life ahead.
